Insufficient jaw bone may hinder teeth restorations such as dental implants and may be required in other dental or corrective surgery such as Oro-Maxillofacial Surgery (see below). Natural bones can be grafted from within the patients oral cavity and implanted into the required area. Synthetic bone grafts are also used in dental surgery.
