This procedure is to eliminate specific areas with pockets of fat from an otherwise normal-weight person. Result would be best when the skin elasticity is still good. Commonly performed on areas such as inner thighs, hips, buttocks, arms and abdomen. Under General Anesthetic and the procedure can take between 2 to 4 hours depending on the areas and the amounts of fat to be removed. Small incisions are made to insert small tubular instruments connected to suction that used to vacuum out the fat carefully.

Overnight ward care is required and patients are advised to recuperate for about 3 days. Some patients are able to resume normal activities the day after surgery.
